Based in Kent, Allan Richardson is a resident artist at the prestigious Dartford Folk Club, and also has a foot in the Warwickshire folk scene. Firmly in the acoustic troubadour tradition, his engaging vocal style and deft guitar accompaniments reward the listener with humour, romance and the occasional point to ponder. Allan is known for his writing in wide ranging styles and themes, and a number of his songs are now being performed by other singers. Favourites include The Friend, the Dark Dressed in Blue and the famous Air Shanty. Thriving on live performance, he took advantage of the enforced break in 2020 to produce a new CD of his songs “Thanks for all the Honey” – the title track is a serenade to insects. As well as his own material, Allan’s sets include the odd cover, particularly of songs by Trad, who is his favourite writer.
