Formed originally in 1978 by Ralph Jordan and James Patterson (Silas) and Mick Ryan and Jon Burge, CROWS were a popular fixture on the club and festival circuit until the mid 1980s. In that time they underwent a couple of personnel changes the first of which saw Dave Bordewey replacing Jon. In 2016, Mick, Dave and James were joined by the legendary Paul Downes to revive the band.
CROWS sound was always built on the foundation of solid harmony singing supported by sensitive and appropriate instrumentation and the new line up continues that tradition.
After a successful 2017 the band are back for 2018, planning a new CD and looking forward to entertaining audiences across the UK. Reviewing CROWS at Bromyard festival, Living Tradition magazine concluded – “this is proper music by four masters of the folk scene” – which sums it up nicely!
