Two of Britain's' finest singers come to town to launch this year's Warwick Folk Festival.
The Thursday night concert sees two folk legends NIC JONES and VIN GARBUTT sharing the billing for what should be a memorable night of wonderful music.
Nic's sensibility and approach to the arrangement of traditional folk songs has been a major influence on the folk scene since the early 1970s. His original percussive style is still imitated by many and as a singer he had few peers.
Despite the accident that ended his career in 1982, he stands today as an influential and respected performers, with a reputation that continues to impress an audience who were too young to see him perform first time round.
Vin Garbutt has continues his reign as one of the biggest stars in folk music! With his powerful delivery of heart-rending songs, his superb mastery of the tin whistle and his unique ability to be hilariously funny and deadly serious at the same time, the Teesside Troubadour has been on the road for 42 years and shows no slowing down.
Born in Middlesbrough, Vin threw caution to the winds and became a professional musician at the age of 21. After spending his first summer busking around the Mediterranean coast, he discovered a talent for songwriting and started to tackle such topics as pollution, sexual exploitation, abortion and genocide with powerful lyrics that sometimes ruffled a few ethical and political feathers.
This is a long-awaited return by Vin to Warwick and we're delighted to welcome him back to open the Festival.
With extra support to be announced, tickets for this fantastic concert can be purchased as a Weekend Plus ticket, or as a single concert ticket at £16.00.
