Warwick Folk Festival Choir 2012

Would you like to perform at this year’s Warwick Folk Festival? Now is your chance!

You are warmly invited to join the Warwick Folk Fest Choir 2012.
No singing experience necessary, and you certainly don’t need to be able to read music as all of the songs will be taught by ear. Come and join over 50 enthusiastic singers on Monday evenings in Warwick (starting 18 June) for a series of sessions leading to a couple of short performances at the Festival on Sunday 29 July. Over 6 weeks we will be singing a cracking selection of a cappella harmony folk songs from around the world. The sessions, run by popular local choir leader Bruce Knight, will be fun and lively and will satisfy both the first-time singer and the experienced a cappella crooner.

Choir leader Bruce Knight has been running singing workshops and choirs (including the ever-popular Songlines) for 12 years. Bruce is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network (www.naturalvoice.net) and believes the Zimbabwean proverb: “If you can walk you can dance, if you can talk you can sing!”

Dates: Monday 18 June – Monday 23 July, plus rehearsal and gigs on Sunday 29 July (times t.b.c.)

Venue: St. Nicholas Church, Warwick, CV34 4JD
(just by the huge car park at St. Nicholas Park)

Time: 7:30 – 9:30

Cost: £30 (payable on the first night)
Places in the Choir MUST be PRE-BOOKED. Please email Bruce: bruceknight.voice@virgin.net, or telephone 01926 778454

Warwick Folk Festival takes place 26-29 July 2012, creating in the streets of Warwick a showcase of cultural tradition, with music, dance, song, costume and character from across the UK and beyond.

This annual transformation generates an outburst of folk art heritage, attracting visitors to our town, year after year. Families, day trippers, weekenders, musicians, artists, festival-goers; all taking part in a few hours or a few days at Warwick Folk Festival, with tents, caravans, motor homes, guest houses and hotels booked.

It’s a wonderful long weekend. The festival has been running for over 30 years, with world-class artists performing alongside bright young hopefuls; workshops, family activities, craft stalls, al fresco food, the best beer, and always something new to enjoy.

The Festival Board is inviting your company to be involved, from direct hands-on help, to commercial sponsorship, or a small donation. The Festival Programme goes out to 10,000 festival goers and the events attract 20,000 visitors over the festival weekend. It’s a great opportunity for you to be associated with Warwick’s biggest festival event.

Come and have a drink on us

To find out more about how you can be involved, you are invited to meet the Festival Board and speak to some of our existing Festival Partners at the Lord Leycester Hotel on Jury Street. Come and join us for a drink at 6pm on 7 February and we’ll tell you more about the festival.

Please RSVP by 27 January to fiona.henderson@warwickfolkfestival.co.uk or call me on the numbers below:
