
Energetic, sociable and fun, the English ceilidh scene has flourished in recent years, generating an exciting mix of new bands and callers who are taking the genre forward into the 21st century.
Warwick Folk Festival has been at the forefront of these developments, supporting new bands which are now firmly established as festival favourites around the country – Hekety, Ceilidhography, Glorystrokes, Steamchicken, Trinculo and The Gloworms, to name just a few.
There was more of the same in 2011, as The New Slide and caller Alex Cummings made their Warwick debut on Friday night. Great young musicians, they brought the classic English dance band sound back to life with style.
